Pioneering Automotive Heat Pump System

Let's talk

Challenge

Our long time partner Hanon Systems was developing a first-of-its-kind heat pump system for an electric vehicle platform. Given our multiple-year track record of collaboration, Synchrotek was selected to develop the control software and integrate it into the vehicle’s thermal management system. The project began as a proof of concept, but the goal was clear: if successful, it would move to serial production.

Solution

While the mechanical system design was provided Hanon Systems, Synchrotek took on the full development of the control software, ensuring seamless operation and efficiency. To achieve this, we built a full functional model of the vehicle’s thermal management system, which allowed us to:

  • Develop & optimize control strategies before real-world implementation.
  • Conduct extensive functional and regression testing to ensure robustness.
  • Eliminate potential integration issues upfront, reducing the risk of failures in production.

After extensive testing and validation, the system was deployed in the first prototype vehicles. From the very first test drive, it met all efficiency, quality, and reliability standards, paving the way for serial production.

Outcome

Reliable from day one: After rigorous development and testing, the system was deployed into serial production with zero failures – not a single unit required rework or modifications.

OEM approval & mass production: The solution was so robust that the OEM immediately moved forward with serial deployment.

Scalability across multiple models: Recognizing the reliability of our control software, the OEM commissioned us to adapt it for additional vehicle models, all at minimal cost while maintaining the same high reliability.
